He spoke to German Hoops after Rostock announced he wasn´t returning next season.
Yannick thanks for talking to German Hoops. Where are you at the moment and how has your summer been?
My summer is going very well, i’m in Canada right now training and focusing on getting better.
It was made official today that you wont be returning to Rostock. Had there been a chance that you might return since it took longer for your leaving to be made official?
Not really, I let the organization know that I would not be coming back shortly after the season ended.
After playing in Canada, Finland and Magdeburg, what made your year in Rostock so unforgettable and special that you will never forget?
The winning was great but what made this past season unforgettable was our fans, like I said before they are by far the greatest fans I’ve played in front of so far in my career, they were just amazing.
What special message would you like to give to the Rostock fans after this unforgettable season?
I just want to thank all of them for the great support they gave us and say that we wouldn’t of been able to accomplish what we did without them.
Your stats with Rostock were amazing 21.0ppg), 8.1rpg, 4.2apg, Steals-1(3.2spg), FGP: 51.6%, 3PT: 31.2%, FT: 80.0%. Do you feel you made another step in your development with Rostock?
Yes I definitely feel like I took a big step forward this past season by being a leader and top player once again but even more important than all the stats being able to keep showing that i’m a winner first and foremost.
How did head coach Sebastian Wild help your defensive game? You were close to making one block a game this season?
Coach Basti helped me on my defense in the fundamental aspect of it, I’ve always been able to play good defense by using my natural abilities but he helped me to also use my brain when playing defense.
You will be remembered most for your offense, but how vivid is your 5 block effort against Herten still in your mind?
The 5 blocks were okay but playing defense as always been a big part of my game, offense is what most people remember because its more fun but this season I made my third straight All First Defensive Team in three different leagues.
German Sven Hellmann played his 10th season with Rostock. What were you able to learn from him last season in terms of leadership that you will bring to your next destination?
Sven was a good leader without having to say a whole lot, so I will definitely try to use his approach of being able to lead by my actions more than my words.
You led the team in scoring, rebounding and assists, but also in turnovers with 3,7. Is taking care of the ball be something you will work on this summer in pick up games?
Yes, taking care of the ball is one of the many things I will try to improve this summer, one by tightening my handles and two by making the right play instead of the best one.
What is the next step for Yannick Anzuluni? Will you stay in Germany or go to another country? What is your preference?
My next step is to play on a first league team anywhere on the globe, I have no real preference on the destination.
Do you see yourself making the next step to the German Pro A with the season you had in Rostock? Would a team like the Hamburg Towers get your interest? Could you imagine remaining in the north of Germany?
I really love Germany and I already received some interest from Pro A teams but my main focus and goal right now is on a first league team.
How does a summer workout day look like for you on and off the court in 2015?
Monday to Friday I wake up at 6am, I have cardio for about 30-45min, then I have on court training for about 90min then grab some food, go back to the gym in the evening for weight lifting, Saturday light shooting and Sunday is reserved for the Lord and church.
What is your take on Lebron James in 2015? He had superman stats, but didn´t win the NBA title. Did he make another step to being named in the same class with a Michael Jordan?
Yeh Lebron had an amazing individual post season which will propel his greatness even more but at the end of the day, there still hasn’t been anyone in the same breath as Michael Jordan
What was the last DVD movie that you saw?
Thanks Yannick for the chat.
