Brandon thanks for talking to German Hoops Where are you at the moment and have you digested the 5 game season ending series loss to BV Chemnitz yet?
Hey Miles, right now I’m on my way back to USA. The series with Chemnitz was very intense, I feel the series could of went either way for both sides. Congrats to Chemnitz!
It was a very hard fought 5 game series. Do you feel like game three was the turning point? Had you won that game, you most likely would have sailed into the Pro A semi-finals?
Every game was important to us and every game we fought hard. We were just a couple plays away from winning in games 3 & 5.
You said in our last interview in March heading into the playoffs that the team was being invictus and being consistent. Keep playing our style I’m sure we going to be fine. What do you feel in the end was key for not being able to win the series against BV Chemnitz?
We played our basketball and everyone stayed true to the system of being Invictus. I’m proud of my guys. I don’t have the answers on the reasons why we loss but I know we gave it everything we had.
The club played very solid defense. Do you feel that at the times the offense let the team down in certain situations?
We played solid on both ends of the floor. Proud of my guys.
It was your third straight playoff run with SC Rist Wedel and Trier. Was the series against BV Chemnitz besides the disappointing loss your most remembered playoffs as a professional?
Yes this is for sure the most disappointing loss but I’ll learn and grow from it.
You had a solid game three scoring 15 points, but went 0/4 from outside. Had you nailed one or two, the club probably would have won the game. Is there any three of those four that you still have in your head knowing you should of dropped it?
Yes the game could have been close.
What is your overall season summary for the Romerstrom Gladiators. You made the playoffs. Was the team goal reached or do you feel as if the whole team potential fell a bit short?
The goal was to reach the finals, we fell a bit short.
If you had to choose one player that you feel improved the most from the first day of training camp until the game 5 loss in Chemnitz who would you pick?
I can’t choose one player because everyone evolved throughout the whole year proud of everyone effort and work.
In the last interview you stated about Jermaine Bucknor “Buck has so much knowledge about the game and it feels good to have a veteran with so much experience like him on our team. It’s been really big have him apart of the team”. What was the most vital thing you picked up from him on the court in the few months that you were teammates?
His smarts on the court and his patients on reading the game and so much more.
You said in our first interview in October that ““ I Love Leading And This Is A Long Season And Being Consistent Is Key”. How do you feel were you able to make strides in leadership qualities in your third professional season?
I took a big stride this year on leadership and being one of the captains the team needed me to be. I feel I did a good job.
You state often that one of the reasons for your improved play has to do with putting in extra work. Do you feel like you have become a better disciplined player this season as well?
For sure better disciplined and better at reading the game.
You improved your scoring and three point shooting from last season. Is Brandon Spearman ready to make the next step or are you just a very good Pro A player?
I’m ready to make the next step
What is the next step for Brandon Spearmann? Do you see yourself staying in Germany for a fourth season or anxious to explore the basketball in another country?
I can see myself playing in Germany, also I can see myself playing in another country.
What are your summer plans? Do you have anything special planned or will you just be staying at home with the family and working on your game?
Spending a lot of time with family and working out preparing for my next step.
Devin Booker recently hit the Boston Celtics for 70 points. Did it surprise you that a guy like him was able to do that before many other amazing NBA scorers?
Not surprised Booker a great player.
Where do you rank Boston Celtic Isaiah Thomas at the moment with the best point guards in the NBA? Is he a top 3 point guard at the moment behind Westbrook and Harden?
I’ll say top 5
How special was the run of South Carolina at the 2017 NCAA tournament? Do you feel like this was the story of March Madness 2017`?
Yeah it was a cool story but I really enjoyed that North Carolina won.
Is Lonzo Ball the real thing? Do you feel like he will be able to develop further despite the antics of his father on social media?
Yes he will develop and he’s going to be a great player!
There has been criticism of Russell Westbrook to be focusing more on rebounding to help inflate his stats and possibilities of getting triple doubles instead of focusing on his defensive assignments. Do you feel that this is a fair assessment to the player Russell Westbrook?
Russell a great player you have to respect what he’s done this season.
What was the last movie that you saw?
Thanks Brandon for the chat.
