Jordan thanks for talking to German Hoops. Congrats on the huge 79-58 win. With what kind of a feeling did you go into this do or die game. Were you a little nervous or were you able to block out the major importance of the game?
I was more excited than nervous. This being my first playoff series I really wanted us to come out and play our best basketball.
When you look back at your basketball career how successful have you been in do or die games and what importance and standing did this game weigh in comparison to earlier games?
This game was important to us because we really wanted to win this as a team. We felt like we should’ve closed out the series last week but to finish it on our home court in front of our fans was huge for us.
The Giants Nordlingen lost game two 82-72. What lesson did the team learn in general from the game two loss?
I think we learned that we have to stay focused throughout the game. Also that it will be the little details that can cost you a close game.
At halftime, Nordlingen led 38-35. What did head coach Mario Matic tell the team to do better in the third half which the team heeded to and did on the court?
They were shooting the ball extremely well in the first half. Coach just told us to close out to their shooters and make them uncomfortable and finish the possession with a rebound.
Nordlingen exploded in the third quarter going on a 26-9 run to seal the win. What adjustments did the team do in general to totally sway the game in your favor?
I think our defense was great in the quarter. Eventually they started to miss shots and we capitalized on that opportunity.
When the Nordlingen offense is in full swing like it was in the third quarter is the opponents defense no matter what they throw at you helpless?
We’re pretty dangerous at that point. There’s not much you can do because we have so many options and unselfish players. When we’re playing at that level I believe we have a chance against anyone.
One could say when the big three of you, Brandon, Janek and Leo Vrkas score in double figures and combine for 70 points and the defense is spot on that the club has very good chances of winning?
Yes I would agree with that statement.
You had another normal day at the office with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Do you feel like you will have to raise your game even more against the forthcoming difficult series against Iserlohn?
I’m not sure how the series will go with Iserlohn. I’m just focused on going out there and putting forth my best effort. I want to remain consistent and not attempt to be the hero and do what’s best for the team.
Oldenburg have many young talented young Germans. After seeing talented German big man Jan Niklas Wimberg three times in the post season, what was your overall impression of him and his game and how far can a guy like that go in professional basketball?
I definitely liked his game. He’s a versatile, athletic, and very strong forward. As he gets more of an aggressive mindset as he gets older and realize how much better he is than everyone else he can be a force on the court.
With what positives can the Giants Nordlingen go into the next difficult series against Iserlohn?
We’re the underdogs against Iserlohn and its a role that we like to be in. We don’t know them and they don’t know us and we’re motivated to get out there and compete.
How excited are you to be playing another opponent that you didn´t face in the regular season? What are you looking most to in this series?
With them being the best team in the north I’m expecting an extremely talented and well coached team. The better the competition the better we have to be and I’m looking forward to see if we can rise to the occasion.
The bench could be the biggest factor in the series. What else will be key to getting by the top team of the Pro B north?
For us our key is defense and rebounding. We have a lot of confidence in our offense and we know if we come out guard and rebound we have a chance to shock them.
Were you surprised that Oklahoma lost by 44 points to Villanova?
Yes I was surprised. I expected OU to lose but not by that much. Especially in the Final Four on that huge stage.
Who will win the NCAA 2016 title North Carolina or Villanova and what will the score be?
I think North Carolina 69-66
What was the last movie that you saw?
The Big Short.
Thanks Jordan for the chat.
