Brian thanks for talking to German Hoops again. medi bayreuth suffered a tough 73-61 loss in Ludwigsburg. Ludwigsburg had a one point lead in the first few minutes of the fourth quarter, but then broke away. What were the main reasons for the loss on the road?
We had way too many turnovers. Their press took us away from getting into our offense and we didn’t execute as well as we should have.
It seemed like even when medi had an answer in the fourth quarter, Ludwigsburg had a better answer. Were the home team just a bit more clever in certain situations at the end?
They made some tough shots and we had defensive breakdowns in crucial times and it led to us losing the game unfortunately.
Are the Neckar Riesen Ludwigsburg a team that could still peak in the next months and be a team that could make an upset in the playoffs? They seem to be ateam with a very dangerous roster and smart coach that knows how to win.
They are a good team, we had our chances to beat them both times we played them but ended up losing both games. I think they are capable of winning games in the playoffs, yes.
How was it like playing against ex Bayreuth center Gary Mcghee? He is known for getting his ankles broken by Kemba Walker in an NCAA game. What did you like about his game?
He is a strong athletic center who rebounds well. I didn’t think of his as an ex-Bayreuth center, just another opponent.
Bayreuth has lost four games in a row and what worse timing then for Tuebingen to start picking up their game now. Bayreuth has the talent, but do you feel a lot for the current situation in games has to do more mentally than with the vast ability that the team possesses on the court?
I think none of us have lost this many games before in our career, so mentally it is definitely a new challenge for us to overcome. We are a very talented team and need to finish the season strong and together as a team.
The next game is a do or die game against Bremerhaven. What do you remember most from the 87-74 loss in the first game?
I remember we were winning and had many chances to win that game. We need to not make the same mistakes and give an over the top effort towards winning this game and every game we have left.
What kind of game can we await in Bayreuth and what will be key to winning? I might warn you to bring ear plugs, because it will be loud in the Oberfrankenhalle.
We will need to play together as a team and full of confidence and tons of energy. The fans will definitely be loud and give us a great atmosphere and we need to take advantage of that and get a win.
What was your take on the 2014 NBA allstar slam dunk contest? Many were disappointed about it? Are the dunking ideas running our or no new Vince Carters coming up on the horizon?
I heard some bad reviews about it also from my teammates and I actually haven’t watched anything from the 2014 NBA all star break.
Lamar Odom has signed with a Spanish team. He is most likely done in the NBA. Do you think that he can adapt quickly to the European style?
I think it might take him a while to get used to some of the differences, like no longer having defensive 3 seconds in the key, but I’m sure he will do great.
What was the last DVD movie that you saw?
Escape Plan
Thanks Brian for the chat.
