He spoke to German Hoops about basketball.
Taylor, thanks for talking to German Hoops. How was your summer? Usually players that sign early can enjoy their summer, but it is September and you still aren´t signed and would like to continue your career. How tough has it been not having a team yet?
My summer has been up and down, its tough coming from Pro b and not making much money to support you over the summer, so you have to have a balance of accumulating money and staying in the gym, its been tough but I have found middle ground. Its been very tough sitting and waiting to make your next move. I was so ready to play a full season last year but didnt get to Frankfurt until December, I am even more ready now to be on a higher level than Pro b so more people can see my talent.
It seems like the job market gets tougher and tougher each year. You must have had some offers. Are you still weighing your options?
I actually havent received any concrete offers, so I cant say im weighing any options.
There was interest from pro B team TV Langen. But after a strong Pro B season last season with Frankfurt, you probably want to make the next step, but wouldn´t it be logical so late in the off season where spots are scare to take any offer even if it is from a Pro B team?
Yes I really want to move to another level. but yes it is late in the game and I cant start another season late. We will see what happens with Langen
Last season with Frankfurt Pro B team you came late in the season but averaged 16.8ppg, 8.3rpg, 1.2apg, 1.7spg, FGP: 51.5%, 3PT: 19.0%, FT: 73.1%. Was there not any possibility of having remained in Frankfurt?
I really wanted to move up to the BBL with the Skyliners, but after the first practice I ruptured ligaments in my ankle and was forced to play injured or return home and not play my first year out, so 16.8 and 8.3 is ok but if I were 100% I believe I would of gotten that call.
You very solid scoring in double figures in 11 of 12 games. How happy were you with your rookie season in Frankfurt?
My season to me was a disappointment, low scoring and not as many wins as me and the team wanted. I love to win!
What was your season highlight? Possibly the 24 point 18 rebound game against TV Langen?
Yes that was a great game of mine, I was asked to do a lot that game because the 2 bigs we had Johannes Voigtmann and Danilo Barthel from the BBL team who play with us were not playing
At times you had to play the position four last season. Are you still more comfortable at the position three. You showed often last season that you could withstand taller and bigger players at your position?
Yes I can and want to play the 3 position. I am a good defender in the post and rebounder. That is why I play the 4 at points, but my true position is the 3 spot.
You often saw Quantez Robertson flying to the hoop or making some unbelievable athletic play on the court. What amazing play from Tez will always remain in your mind?
I had to guard Quantez every day in practice, what I can remember is just his strength, poise and quickness, if you mix all 3 together you have a special player.
If you could describe your game in a few sentences how would you so you would be appealing to any basketball team?
I am a very hard worker and unselfish. I am also a quick learner with a deadly jump shot and tremendous athleticism. I can help any team in many different ways, can rebound with the bigs and guard guards on the perimeter
How does a normal Taylor Brown work out day in and out of the Gym look like?
A normal day in the gym is a good weight session or calisthenics. Then I start with some light shooting, into ball handling. a lot of shooting drills with a mix of ball handling in them. Some conditioning on the basketball court and end with more shooting, as I know how vital shooting is in the game.
On what basketball things did you work the most on this summer?
This summer I have been training with a number of pro’s overseas and in the NBA. I also spent a week with the Atlanta Hawks scrimmaging with some players and draft prospects. I worked on my ball handling the most this summer, wanting to be able to bring the ball up for teams and expand my game.
How will the Atlanta Hawks finish this season in the NBA? Where will the guard duo of Jeff Teague and Dennis Schroeder stack up?
The hawks should have a great year with the two in the back court, the question is how will their bigs play this year.
What was the last DVD movie that you saw?
The last movie I saw was meet the millers, very funny comedy.
Thanks Taylor for the chat.
