Congrats on the 73-67 win at home against Oldenburg. Oldenburg was up by 5 points after three quarters. In the fourth quarter Phoenix Hagen played Hagen basketball erupting for 26 points. Was this not a better example of how the team ALWAYS believes in itself?
It was a great example, and teams are going to start to respect the fact that we don’t ever give up no matter what the game is looking like.
It used to be that nobody talked about the Phoenix Hagen defense, but giving up 67 points and forcing 23 turnovers was excellent. How has Phoenix Hagen improved defensively in the last two months?
We have been more focused and concentrated on defense more than our offense, we know our offense will come and we know that defense is what is going to win games for us.
If someone had said in November that Phoenix Hagen would beat Alba Berlin, Bamberg and Oldenburg in a row what would you have said?
Knowing the history of those teams, I would have just said that its going to be really hard to do that.
Is there a possibility that Phoenix Hagen is peaking too soon?
Not at all, I think we peak too late but at the same time I think we peaked at just the right time.
Phoenix Hagen beat Braunschweig 89-78 in the first game. What memories do you have from that game?
We pretty much controlled the game, we shared the ball very well that game and had a balanced attack on offense and played good defense.
Braunschweig is fighting to stay in the league. What will be key to keep the winning streak alive?
We have to keep our mentality the same as all the games before no matter what their position is in the league. We have not reached our goal yet and every team poses a threat to us not achieving our goal.
How have you been following the NCAA tournament. Have you been happy how the tournament has gone with the upsets? What was the biggest surprise for you so far?
Yeah, I’m not too happy with the upsets, I mean it’s fun to see but not when it messes up your bracket lol. Biggest surprise I would say would be Florida Gulf Coast, they are playing some real good basketball right now
What was the last DVD movie that you saw?
Thanks Larry fort he chat.
