This season he played for MBC averaging 9,3ppg, 1,9rpg and 4,3apg before moving on to the Giessen 46ers. He spoke to German Hoops about his new home Giessen recently.

MJ you are like a fireman. Any place where there is a fire, you go there and put it out. Last season you came to Phoenix Hagen stopped a long losing streak by winning three games in a row.

I just try to do whatever I can to help a team win. The record of Giessen just doesnt reflect how good they are. I just try to put the ball in the hole and lead it toward the hole

How comfortable are you in Giessen?

I feel good in Giessen. The club has accepted me with open arms and I feel very comfortable here. I am happy to be here. I am glad to be back in the west part of Germany.

I was a bit surprised when I heard that you had moved from MBC to Giessen. Why did you leave MBC?

MBC simply wasnt a good situation for me. I wasnt happy there and they werent happy with me. It was like a loveless marriage.. However it was a good separation. I asked for my release and both parties were happy with the release.

I couldnt understand why MBC would not want such a good point guard? You had good stats with MBC.

I was playing well, but in general I am not a stats guy, but I wasnt comfortable and I thought that they didnt use me in the best way. I felt like I was being phased out. It was better to move on to a place where they wanted me.

Was self confidence lacking the most in the Giessen 13 game losing streak?

Any time you start losing many games, the self confidence gets hurt. Giessen is a talented team and I think that they were just missing a player to run the show.

It seems like Giessen is stronger than at the start of the season with the coming of you and Maurice Jeffers? How fast will the self confidence come?

I think that the more we play together and win the more the self confidence will come. We are working hard each day for the self confidence to grow.

On what things does Giessen need to work on in the last weeks?

We have to work on our execution on offense and defense. A new coach came in as well as players so we are still learning the system. It will take some time before everyone is comfortable with the system.

How intact are the Giessen 46ers?

We are together. We all have one goal and that is to win as many games as possible. Each guy wants to win and nobody is looking at stats.

The Giessen 46ers have many goals. You are a point guard, but with so many scorers will you be more of a playmaker than scorer?

It depends on the role that I have in every game. We have many weapons. In my first game in Bayreuth, I set up my teammates while in the second half, I saw the chance to score and took it. I was on a roll so I got the ball more to score.

What is your nicest memory from MBC?

That is a tough question. I would say just being with my teammates. We all got a long and it just sucked that we didnt win.

What is a strength in your game that doesnt always get noticed?

I think that people underestimate that I can score. Just because I dont shoot so much, people think that I cant shoot.

How did you come up with the idea of taking photos of your sleeping teammates?

One day I just decided to take photos of guys that were passed out and had their mouths wide open. I had my Black berry and just started taking pictures. I am never a victim, because when I sleep in the bus, I make sure to put a jacket over my face.

If you were sent into the jungle to survive, what would you take with you and would you eat the insects?

I would take a survival expert with me. I would not be able to eat the insects. My stomach wouldnt be able to handle that. eating insects would be disgusting.

What was the last DVD movie that you saw?

The New Moon from the Twilight saga. I read the book. Both were good.

Thanks for the chat MJ.
