What is your early impression of Germany?
Frankfurt is a big city and wonderful place. I am looking forward to getting to know the city better.
You had 9 points and 10 rebounds in your first game. How did you feel on the court?
I felt ok, but it was weird playing again after not playing for such a long time.
You are still needing to find your basketball shape. How do you wnat to find it?
I just need to play games. You can run 5 kilometers, but its not the same thing like changing speeds on the court or getting an elbow.
What drills are you doing with Skyliner assistant coach Klaus Perwass?
We are doing basketball drills. The most important thing is doing contact drills. That is the biggest adjustment for me.
How did you keep in shape in the last 7 months?
I did the basic things like lifting weights, running and playing pick up games. It was a strange feeling not being able to play games for a team.
What is your early impression of The Deutsche Bank Skyliners?
Everyone gets along with each other. each guy wants to win and no one is looking at stats. Each guy is doing their best to help the team win.
What do The Deutsche Bank Skyliners still need to improve?
We need to get more consistent. It is difficult to play consistent for 40 minutes, but if the team plays at a high level then they will always have good chances to win.
You are a natural 4 man, but can play the five. Is playing center a big adjustment for you?
It is not a real big adjustment. I get the ball a lot closer to the basket.
How is your early relationship to coach Gordie Herbert?
I have a good relationship. He knows a lot about basketball and has coached many good players. He does a good job helping you improve and gives a lot of experience.
What is a strength in your game that isnt always noticed right away?
I am good at taking charges. Its not pretty, but helps the team.
Could Dashaun Wood play in the ACB tomorrow?
I think he could play there tomorrow. The ACB is about opportunity and situation. I had great years in the ACB and last year I had a bad year, but I am still the same player.
You played together with Roger Powell for CB Murcia. What was your most memorable Roger Powell moment there on the court?
Roger dunked over a seven footer in practice. What always impressed me about Roger Powell was his intensity. Guys get frustrated and dont bring the same intensity any more, but Roger keeps going and working even in hard times.
What was your childhood like?
I grew up in Georgia where it was always hot. My dad was in Military and when I was 12, I lived a year in Frankfurt. Now I live in Chesterfield, Virginia.
Who were your NBA idols as a kid?
James Worthy and Michael Jordan.
Was there an NBA player you disliked as a kid?
No, I respected all players.
What do you remember the most on and off the court at West Virginia?
The social time off the court and on the court winning a game in double OT.
What was your nicest memory from ex Skyliner Marcus Goree at West Virginia?
He showed me the ropes at west Virginia. He was already very good then. He made me better as a player in practice.
Who was the best player that you ever played against?
Paul Pierce last summer.
Who was the best player that you played against in the ACB?
Luis Scola and Juan Carlos Navarro.
You lived on the island of Menorca for two years. Was that island a paradise?
For most of the year it was like a paradise with nice beaches and many tourists. Winter was not so much fun, but we were traveling.
What were the most free throws that you ever made in a row?
300. My coach made me shoot free throws until I hit 300 in a row. I used to be a horrible free throw shooter.
What was your most crazy shot that you made?
I made a half court shot and one from behind the back board with my back to the back board.
Who won a one on one at west Virginia, you or Marcus Goree?
We actually never played. He probably would have beat me then.
What would you like to do after your basketball career?
Get into coaching.
What was the last DVD movie that you saw?
Why did I get married.
Thanks Chris for the chat.
