You are playing your first season in Germany for the Brose Baskets Bamberg. Was the main reason for coming because the team is playing Euroleague?
It was one of the main reason I wanted to play in Bamberg. To have the opportunity to play against the top competition in Europe is something that I’m definitely looking forward too.
How has training camp been for you? What is your early impression of the team?
Training camp has been going really well. Everyday we are getting better and building chemistry with each other. My impression of the team is that these guys work hard everyday. I can see why they where able to win the BBL Championship and German Cup because they all work really hard and well together.
What kind of style can we await from the Brose Baskets Bamberg this season?
I think that you will see a team the plays hard and competes every night. We have great expectations for the season and we are all looking forward to putting in the necessary work to reach these expectations.
The Brose Baskets Bamberg have a very strong team with many scoring options. You have always been a scorer but would you be sad if you dont score as much this season. What will your role be this season?
No I won’t be sad at all. I’m actually looking forward to not having to score as much as I’ve had in the past. I will be able to put my energy toward others parts of the game the will help put us in positions to win. My role with the team will be to give energy play strong defense and provide rebounding for team. Also to give us another inside post threat and change the pace of the game with my quickness and athletic ability.
How is your relationship with coach Chris Fleming? What has impressed you most about his coaching style so far?
We have a good relationship. He reminds me a lot of my first college coach Fran McCaffery. He is very patient and he has helped me improved a lot over the past two months and I’m looking forward to working with him through out the rest of the season.
You have good competition at the power forward position with Predrag Suput who belongs to the best players in the BEKO BBL. How is it guarding him in practice each day and playing with him?
Guarding him is really tough because he can score in a variety of different ways. He is a tough physical player and definitely make his opponent work on the defense end. I think playing against everyday in practice will make me a better player throughout the season. I enjoy playing with him, because I have been able to learn a lot from just watching him play that I think will help me improve my game. A powerful player who loves to attack the basket. Has a good 1-vs-1 game and likes to go inside. He is undersized to play the PF, but his great wingspan (7-1) allows him to guard taller players and to intimidate. He’s also a great leaper and reads the opponent’s game well.
What is a hidden strength in your game that nobody really knows about ?
I think my perimeter game and my shooting ability is hidden and improving part of my game. It is something that I have constantly been working on for the past few years.
Who was the best player that you ever played against in the NCAA?
J.J Reddick… In college he was unstoppable.
How well will the Miami Heat do this year with Lebron James?
I think that they will do really well this year. I think that it was take a little bit of time to build chemistry. Once they get that, I think they will be best team in the East.
What was the last DVD movie that you saw?
Iron man 2
Thanks Kyle for the chat. Good luck with Bamberg this season.
