You are playing your third season for Besiktas Istanbul. Is there any reason besides money why you continue to play for this traditional Turkish team?

There is no real reason. I just want to help the team win. I do like the coach. He lets me play my game. I also want to continue to help the team finish what we couldn´t finish the last two years.

Last season, you averaged 6,1 assists per game. Are you getting better with age as a playmaker?

We had a great team last season and my teammates were the cause of me averaging so many assists per game.

Are you a pure point guard? You have a knack to like to score.

I think I am a point guard that can do it all. I can score and pass, but I guess you could say that I am a point guard looking to get assists.

In your senior season 2001-2002 at UTPA (NCAA), you were the third top scorer in the nation averaging (26.2ppg), 5.4rpg, 3.9apg, 3.6spg, 48.4%FG, 35%3pts, 70%FT; Led team to a 20 win season (20-10); 3rd in nation NCAA I in scoring and steals. Were you disappointed that you never reached the NBA?

I am a bit sad that I never got a real chance. To make it in the NBA, you have to be in the right place at the right time. After a while I realized that I could make a good career in Europe.

Last season Besiktas Istanbul got swept in the playoffs by Efes Pilsen 3-0. What can we expect from Besiktas Istanbul this season?

It is still early and we still have a long way to go. We have a new team and we will have to work very hard to be successful.

What is it like to be the only American on a team like Besiktas Istanbul?

It is tough and this is the first time that I am the only American on a team. I have to adjust and I hope that the team will follow me. There are other Americans playing for other teams in Istanbul like Preston Shumpert and Andrew Wisnewski that I talk to.

Will Besiktas be able to play with the top teams in turkey this season?

The top teams have more players and have deeper rosters. But I think that we can play with any team if we work hard and play smart.

You played in Frankfurt nearly five years ago in a ULEB Cup game with dynamo Moscow. What memories do you have?

Honestly not too much. I do know that we won in Frankfurt. I have great memories of that season, because we had a great ULEB Cup season losing only two games. I had great teammates like Rueben Douglas,  Antonis Fotsis, and Lazaros Papadoupoulos and a great coach with Ivkovic. I won´t ever forget this season.

What is your memory of Skyliner captain Pascal Roller?

I played a few times against Roller.I remember that he is a great shooter. I never liked guarding him, because he was always moving getting the ball off the pick and role. He is a leader and not always trying to score, but also looking for his teammates.

Besiktas Istanbul is the favourite in the Eurocup qualifying game. Frankfurt has nothing to lose. Is that an advantage for Frankfurt?

We will not take Frankfurt lightly. We want to move on. I don´t really think that we are the favourite. We still need to improve as a team.

What will be the key to winning for Besiktas Istanbul?

We have to go inside and just play good defense and get out running and then we will be ok.

How well will the Miami heat do with Lebron James this season?

I think that the Miami Heat will have a good regular season. The big test will come in the playoffs. In the playoffs each possession counts and that will be a big test for them. They will have their highlights, but they will have to get by a Boston or Los Angeles in the playoffs which wont be easy.

Who was the best player that you ever played against that might be in the NBA?

The best guard that I ever played against was TJ ford.

Will Kevin Durant reach the next level where Kobe Bryant and Lebron James are?

I think that he can reach their level and he showed in at the World Championships in Turkey recently. I think that he can get there in the next years and when Kobe retires, he will be the best player.

What was the last DVD movie that you saw?

Salt with Angelina Jolie.

Thanks Mire for the chat.
