You just signed with Duesseldorf Giants? How happy and relieved are you about getting the job?

I’m really happy and blessed to be able to get a second opportunity in the BBL after a tough season last year.

How difficult is it each summer as a player when the time flies by and you are still unsigned?

It’s really frustrating when you are at home without an offer on the table, but the only thing you can do is stay positive and continue to work on your game, because when that call or email come you need to be ready once you step off that plane.

Who helped you the most in this time?

Staying in the gym, and planning my wedding help me keep my mind off wondering what was going to be my next move.

How did a typical Dre Haynes workout day look like this summer?

Well I have a trainer that works with me in the summer, so we work on a lot of my shooting techniques, and a lot of my weaknesses. Running on the track and lifting weights was also apart of my daily routine.

What do you remember from the Duesseldorf Giants from last season?
Well my first day in the office everyone was talking about the shot I made to win the game against them, so that would be my greatest and last memory of them.

Your coach will be Murat Didin. He is known as being a difficult coach at times with his players. Do you already have a strategy on how you will survive with him?lol

From everything I’ve been witnessing, he is a great coach who want all his players to play at a high level. He might be hard on us, but it’s only for the best, and he’s a great teacher of the game. He makes you really learn the game, and focus on everything you do once you step on the floor.

This could be a very long and difficult year for Duesseldorf. The team has signed many players with little experience and from lower leagues. Do you see yourself as stepping up and being a leader?

I always consider myself a leader on whatever team I play for, but I’m sure the coach would have us all ready to compete once season starts.

After the difficult season in Paderborn last season, how do you think that you have grown as a player and what will you give Duesseldorf this season in order to be successful?
It was tough last year in Paderborn, but that is behind me now. My coach in college always told me to have short term memory when things go bad like that, so I want to focus on having a winning mentality and working hard to put our team up there with the best of them in the league.

How well will the Miami Heat do with Lebron James?

They will do good this year, because they have great talent and one of if not the best players in the world, but until someone defeats the Lakers all the hype don’t matter.

What was the last DVD movie that you saw?

Frankfurt Vs Paderborn last season.

Thanks for the chat Dre
