Trey Calvin (183-PG-2001, college: Wright St.) is a 23 year old 183cm point guard playing his rookie season with easyCredit BBL team Frankfurt Skyliners. He began his basketball career at Saint Viator high school and then played at Wright State from 2019-2024 playing a total of 122 games and in his last 2 seasons averaged 20.2ppg, 2.9rpg, 3.7apg, 1.3spg, FGP: 53.0%, 3PT: 39.6%, FT: 88.2% and 19.6ppg, 2.4rpg, 4.2apg, 1.5spg, FGP: 52.6%, 3PT: 40.0%, FT: 89.6% in his last 2 seasons. He spoke to germanhoops.com after the massive cup win in Goettingen propelling Frankfurt to the Cup top 4.

Congrats Tre on the massive 78-67 cup win on the road in Goettingen. How vital was this win for stopping the 4 game losing streak?

It was a huge confidence booster to get this win and reach the final 4. I had no idea until a few days ago how big of a deal the cup is. I hope that we can keep building off this win.

This is one of the biggest wins in club history in the last 7 years. Did you sense after the buzzer sounded just how important this win was?

Even before the game started just seeing how many of our fans had come to see us play meant a lot. I realized then how big of a game it was then. After the buzzer sounded, our fans were so loud. It was a great atmosphere.

This was the first return back to the Cup top 4 in 13 years. Do you realize all you need is 2 more wins for that first chip?

Yes it is very surreal. I´m just very blessed to be in a position to win my first pro chip. We will try our best and be as locked in as possible and win the title.

With what kind of a mentality did the Frankfurt Skyliners enter the game? Was it that we have nothing to lose or was Denis Wucherer able to create self-confidence with the guys?

Our motivation was to end our 4 game losing streak. We needed this win so badly in order to get back on track.

Collin Welp was aggressive getting 2 buckets. Here a little history test. His dad Chris was one of the first 3 Germans in the NBA in the 80´s and he made the winning free throw in 1993 to give Germany a surprising gold medal at the Euro. Did you know that?

I did not know that. He is a good player. He is a veteran player that can shoot the ball very well and knows how to be in the right position to make the right play.

You scored Frankfurt´s first 8 points. Did you have a different mind set going in to be more aggressive than usual?

Yes I definitely did. In the last 2 games, I took a lot of shots and didn´t make many. Other guys in my position may have taken less, but I came into the game wanting to be more aggressive and took what the defense gave me.

New Skyliner Patrick Heckman gave big energy with a dunk and assist in the first quarter. How valuable is he for the team?

He is a big piece that we were missing. He is a veteran with BBL experience. He has the leadership and experience to know what it takes to win. We really appreciate him.

The game remained a real dog fight in the second quarter as Frankfurt had the slim 37-36 advantage at the break. How did you take in the atmosphere in Goettingen? They have very diehard fans there.

It was our second game there so we knew what to expect. It was a cool feeling, but it felt different this time, because it was an important cup game. I enjoy playing in that type of game.

What was it like battling ex Arizona State guard Tra Holder. He played with the Skyliners back in the 2018-2019 season.

He had a good game. He is a guard that is quick and tough and has that knack of shooting the ball well and getting to the basket. It was fun playing against him. He hit some tough shots.

Frankfurt led 56-49 after 3 quarters. What did coach Denis Wucherer tell the squad to do going into the fourth quarter?

Our main focus going into the fourth quarter was to get stops. We weren´t clicking that well on offense despite getting open shots.

2 three´s early by Heckman and Zeeb seemed to slow down BG Goettingen. Frankfurt then shut down BG Goettingen for minutes without allowing points. What was key in this phase defensively for being in the drivers seat heading into crunch-time?

It was huge to have a little lead heading into crunch-time. When your down with 5 minutes to play, it is hard to scratch back. Garai Zeeb was a big spark on defense. When we are getting stops, we then know that we can score.

You scored 2 insurance baskets for the 66-54 lead with 3,52 to play. How vital was a phase like this for your personal growth as a rookie?

It was a real confidence booster for me. I hadn´t played with much confidence in the last 2 games. I was more aggressive and seeing the ball go in was a big confidence booster that I can build on.

Another three by you and Heckman free throws sealed the win. What do you believe was the biggest strength on this day for the team?

Just being able to play together. Threr were stretches in the game where we were down and didn´t look good, but we always stuck through it and fought together. We played together for 40 minutes.

How big was the game of Booker Coplin? He had 10 rebounds. How vital is his energy for the team every day even in practice?

Booker is one of our leaders. He is a real good defender when he wants to be. When he isn´t scoring, he does so many other important things. Last night it was rebounding. It isn´t all about scoring for him.

After allowing 95 points in the last 2 BBL games against Oldenburg and Hamburg, what steps did the team make on the defensive end in Goettingen?

Our main focus in practice the last week was defense. We played a good defensive game for 40 minutes holding them to 67 points. We haven´t played that kind of defense much this season. Our help defense was better. Holder scored 16 points, but I feel like we did a good job on him collapsing the paint. We made it hard for him for 40 minutes.

You scored 23 points and led the team to the win. You seem to play your best basketball in the cup. How special is this competition for you?

With me it´s definitely something about the cup games. I´m averaging something like 24 points per game. But I treat the cup games just like any other game. I was aggressive and seeing the ball go meant for me that I would have a good game.

You shot 10/15 from outside in your last 2 cup games and 35% in the BBL. How vital could your shooting be especially in the next 2 big games in the next 5 games?

I think we need that kind of shooting from me. I just continue to shoot the ball when I´m open. I continue to work on my shot every day and just feel confident when I shoot.

Frankfurt now has to rebound after a big game and do it again in Wurzburg against a very tough 5-3 team. What will be key in getting the victory?

We have to limit our turnovers. They are strong with the ball and play physical. We have to get shots on every possession and lock in on defense.

Darius Mcghee scored 46 points in Oldenburg and nailed 10 three pointers the third most in the last 10 years after Jacob Burtschi and TJ Bray. Does a performance like that motivate you?

Yes for sure. I saw his clips. He was hitting shots that I never saw before. He was making Steph Curry type shots. I hope one day to have that kind of freedom and be at his level to take those kind of shots. I´m not taking those kind of shots at the moment.

Thanks Trey for the chat.

The Best feeling For Jarvis Williams(Amicale Steinsel) Wasn´t That He Scored 50 Points But That His Teammates Were Happily Cheering For Him

Jarvis Williams is a 35 year old 198cm forward playing his 10th professional season and fourth with Amicale Steinsel (Luxembourg-LBBL) and fifth season with a Luxemburg club. He also has played in countries like Japan, Switzerland, and Dominican Republic. He also played parts of 2 seasons in the G-League playing with Erie and Iowa totaling 50 games. He began his basketball career at Bradley Tech High School and the played 2 seasons at Kirkwood Community College. He then played 2 seasons with the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay (NCAA) before finishing at Minnesota State University Mankato (NCAA2) averaging 14.5ppg, 5.5rpg, 1.7apg, FGP: 50.7%, 3PT: 20.0%, FT: 80.6%. He spoke to germanhoops.com after hitting for 50 points in a Luxemburg game.

Congrats Jarvis on scoring 50 points in a professional game. You have been a scorer all your life. How special was this?

I would say for the most part I think if I go back to college I think it was seen and my time at Minnesota State it was shown more in my first year of pro ball and it was definitely my role then taking a step back in the D league to play a role but after that besides my small time in G league my role has been to score and I’m blessed to score in many ways as you can see

How aware are you that scoring 50 points at any level isn´t easy?

I’m very very aware it isn’t easy. So many things have to go right and to score it effectively is more harder but for me I was surrounded around a group who knew I could do it and they see my work daily and most importantly they wanted me to go get it.

This was the title on eurobasket.com. Jarvis Williams was the best scorer of the day in the world yesterday with the 50 points he had in Amicale. What goes through your mind when you realize that nobody scored more points than you do in the world?

Honestly it’s an unbelievable feeling and it’s still a shock for me that I did it and when it says the World it hit me differently because there are so many other leagues around. But like I say and can’t say enough this was done by my team and coach. They put me in position to score and most of all they kept believing in me.

5 years ago you scored 49 points in a pro game. Did that result annoy you a bit the last years? Being so close to 50 but not achieving it?

Honestly No that was a rememberable game though was game 1 of the playoffs. I was at the time with Sparta had zero points in first quarter and just went from there. I felt I didn’t deserve 50 that night and we lost too.

How rapidly into the game did you know that you might have a really good game?

I would say during the game I kind of felt I’ll have a good game I was aggressive things were going my way but 50 I didn’t see that I’ll say that honestly.

Did you even know you hit 50 points yourself or did a teammate tell you?

I’ll give a shout out a few people Alex Noah and Amazing Bobby. I know for sure Alex and Noah kept telling me the closer I got and Bobby kept feeding me the ball. I can say this what makes this 50 point game that special when you got teammates that are happily cheering for you to score that many points. Jonas Scott Ely Tom Sean Basil Neal Bob Jule all these guys were just genuinely happy and supporting me and just happy for me in getting this amazing accomplishment. I got to give a S/O to our Fans they showed Love and was cheering the closer I got to 50 as well. When I got 40 that was a milestone and of course 50 as well

Does the 50 points motivate you even more to get more points in a future game? Is possibly 60 points realistic? What was your favorite bucket from yourself in the game?

Honestly I never go into a game like that I take it game by game possession by possession and if stuff get to falling my way I’m sure my team will let me know quick fast and in a hurry lol. Of course I’ll love to score 81 like my favorite player Kobe Bryant but you know I’m just thankful for my 50 points in definitely with me for life

Did veteran Billy Mcdaniel have any nice words for you at the end? He himself is a walking bucket and legend in Luxemburg basketball.

Billy is like a big brother to me. I think he was more disappointed they were losing and I happen to have 50 points on them but he did say why you still in game and I have the upmost respect for him we had almost the same journey in Luxembourg. He definitely is a GOAT In this Country.

Do you have to buy the team dinner after a performance like that or how does that work with your team?

I’m sure I’ll owe the team Beer or something for sure they will let me know for sure.

Thanks Jarvis for the chat.

Aamondae Coleman(BG Dorsten) Is Motivated To Work Even Harder After Exploding For 42 Points Last Weekend Over Herford

Aamondae Coleman (200-F/C-1998, college: Fresno Pacific, agency: Bell Basketball) is a 200cm forward from Las Vegas, Nevada playing his third professional season and first in Germany with Regionalliga team BG Dorsten. Last season he played with Akranes IA (Iceland-Division I) averaging 22.8pp), 9.0rpg, 2.6apg, 1.1spg, 1.0bpg, FGP: 65.5%, 3PT: 41.2%, FT: 63.1%. He split his rookie season with APOP Paphou (Cyprus-OPAP Basket League) averaging 15.0ppg, 7.9rpg, 1.4apg, 2FGP: 57.9%, 3FGP: 15.8%, FT: 59.0%, in Dec.’22 moved to Kutaisi 2010 (Georgia-Superleague) averaging 10.3ppg, 5.6rpg, FGP: 61.0%, FT: 41.7%. He began his basketball career with Desert Oasis high school and then played at Fresno Pacific University (NCAA2) from 2017-2021 playing a total of 97 games and in his senior year averaged 20.4ppg, 6.9rpg, 1.1apg, FGP: 58.0%, 3PT: 33.3%, FT: 69.2%. He spoke to germanhoops after scoring 42 points against Herford.

Thanks Aamondae for talking to germanhoops.com. You scored 42 points last weekend, but lost the game to Herford. How tough was this? Could you at anyway enjoy your personal achievement?

Thank you sir for having me! I truly appreciate it! And honestly I couldn’t really enjoy it too much in the moment because we didn’t pull out the win, but I definitely enjoyed it a little more once I got home and talked to family/friends! I have a such a great support system and I honestly just thank God for them!

You did all you could with 42 points but lost 116-106. Does a result like that give you that feeling inside that you could have done more?

Honestly, yes I felt like I could have. I always feel that I can always be better and try to avoid complacency, especially if we come out on the losing end. I had a few TOs that I wish I could have had back too.

Despite the loss will there be any kind of 42 points celebration? I mean the team giving you a dinner or you giving them a dinner.

Lol maybe, I’ll have to wait and see. Just wish we could have secured the win, but we’ll learn from it and bounce back and be better!

Talk a little about the game. The team had some solid defensive games, but 116 was the most points it has given up. What were the main problems with the defense against Herford?

They’re a great offensive team, have to give them credit. But on our end I think we just had too many turnovers (myself included) which led to easy transition points. Also, we over helped off of shooters a little too often, the 3s they hit really killed us unfortunately.

How rapidly did you know going in that you would have a great game?

I’d say after my first couple of shots; ironically I missed my first shot/layup of the game but I locked in after that thankfully. I also had a subpar game in our previous game, so I honestly was looking forward to having a good bounce back game.

Did you have a special breakfast or pre game dinner? What do you feel was different than in any other game in your career?

I won’t say anything special just chicken and eggs, but I ate a little more servings than usual so maybe that was the key lol

You once scored 37 points in Iceland and 40 points in the NCAA 2 against the Academy of Art. Was this the most points in your career?

Yes sir, this was my career high! Truly a blessing, God is so good. (I also think I had a 39 point game last year in Iceland too, but I might be wrong.)

This was the headline on eurobasket.com Aamondae Coleman was the second top scorer in the whole world yesterday having an unbelievable 42 points in his last game in Dorsten. How does that title make you feel?

It honestly made me feel blessed and honored. To see your hard work pay off and get the recognition, truly a blessing! It also made me feel even more motivated to work even harder and try to reach another level!

You shot 16/21. How would describe your shooting day? You only took 1 three pointer.

My shot felt good honestly! I went 9/10 at the line and hit a middy too. I wish I could have got some more 3s up but I know they will come, just have to stay ready!

What was your favorite play or bucket in your 42 points?

I’d say either one of my And1’s in the 1st half or one of the 2 charges I took. I honestly love taking charges; it´s a turnover for the other team, opposing player gets a foul, and it’s such a great momentum play for our team whenever I take one!

Paul Lunguana had another great game with 28 points. He had 29 in another game. Was his great game a bit in the shadow of your game?

Not at all, Paul is such a great ball player and he had a great game of his own! We’ve only known each other for a couple of months but our relationship/friendship is strong and we’re so close already, he truly is my brother! We’re always in the gym working and just trying to improve our game. Iron sharpens iron!

After scoring 42 points, do you feel like 50 points is reachable in the Regionalliga?

Ahhh possibly but 50 is tough, but I mean who knows though? I try not to think about scoring and just read the defense/take what the defense gives me. Some nights it’s scoring, other nights it’s distributing if the defense is overly-focused on me. But anything is possible with God, so if I get hot again they’re might be a chance!

Thanks Aamondae for the chat.
