Put the series away in the first 5 minutes of the game. Let them know who is the better, more physical team.

Bochum could have wrapped up the series in Frankfurt had they won game one at home. How important was it for the team confidence winning two do or die games in a row?

It was important because now we know we have some toughness about ourselves and that if needed, we can dig out of a hole.

The Dragons Rhondorf Witness Turnaround Season But Experience No Happy End

The script couldn´t have been more perfect for Kameron Taylor taking a step back to the Pro B from the Pro A in hopes to take two steps forward with the Pro B title and a future EasyCredit gig, but instead the usual so charming and warm smile of the American from Maryland was absent after his and the Dragons Rhondorf season ended abruptly in Wolfenbuettel 103-91 as they were swept by the farm team of the Basketball Lowen Braunschweig. Instead of enjoying the beautiful spring weather and chilling with a Paulaner beer and Pretzel at the Rhein Café and Biergarden Grafenwerth on Germany´s most famous river Rhein at the end of April and dreaming about a Pro B title, Kameron Taylor who has produced triple doubles at the college and professional level came back to Rhondorf in the wee hours of the morning of March 19 with minus Celsius temperatures with spring in mid march as far away as the German soccer team HSV is from staying in the Bundesliga. Taylor´s season had non-characteristically ended as those visits to the café´s along the Rhein river in Rhondorf or Bonn in the next weeks when it gets warmer will be without him seeing any more action with the Dragons Rhondorf. The Dragons Rhondorf faced a tough opponent with MTV Herzoege Wolfenbuettel and one where they didn´t match up well on paper so for some the series loss might not come to unexpected, but there was simply so much hope by the fans, Dragons Rhondorf club and especially Kameron Taylor that this wouldn´t only be a long season in the post season, but be ultimately be crowned with the Pro B title. The basketball God had other ideas, but all in all it was a great season for the Dragon Rhondorf witnessing a turnaround from last season, but there would be no happy end.

The Dragons Rhondorf didn´t necessarily go into the Wolfenbuettel series as the favorite, but they had high hopes that they could get to the next round.

Key in this series was losing game one at home in their comfortable living room. Had they won game one, then the momentum would have been with the Dragons Rhondorf and MTV Wolfenbuettel would have had their backs to the wall and the series may have gone totally different and Kameron Taylor may still have been smiling now. In game one the keys to the loss were MTV Herzoege Wolfenbuettel doing a fine job taking Kameron Taylor out of his comfort zone and not letting him play his usual scoring game as he was limited to only 17 points and they made everything very difficult for him.

Kameron thanks for talking to German Hoops. How is the day after for you after the game 2 loss in Wolfenbuettel and ending of your Pro B season? What was going through your head the most on the long bus ride back to Rhondorf?

I was proud of my team because we didn’t quit. We had a lot of guys playing through injuries and everybody giving their best is all we could ask. It definitely sucks that we lost but we are a young team and everyone can use this experience to learn in the future.

The Dragons Rhondorf were focused and motivated to steal a win in Wolfenbuettel and come home for game three. The defense was a big staple in the Dragons game in the first half, but let you down in this series. When you look back at the series were there any adjustments one could of done better besides the length advantage of Wolfenbuettel?

We left it all on the floor, looking back at it Wolfenbüttel played very well in the series.

Statistically the MTV Herzoege Wolfenbuettel were better in all phases except for the turnovers where you had two less. You never want to make excuses, but for me MTV Herzoege Wolfenbuettel was a team that the Dragons Rhondorf didn´t match up well to. You could have drawn many other teams and possibly be in the next round. Do you share my opinion on this?

It wouldn’t matter who we faced, we matchup up well with anyone when we had our full team but can’t make excuses because every team faces injuries and hardships

MTV Herzoege Wolfenbuettel Overpower The Dragons Rhondorf 83-76 With BBL Power Taking 1-0 Playoff Lead

There were some amazing memories from the regular season that Dragons Rhondorf fans won´t forget so quickly like the unbelievable buzzer beater by Kameron Taylor against the Fraport Skylines Juniors or his back to back home triple doubles against BBC Coburg and the Dresden Titans, but those were all put on the back burner as the real season began now with the playoffs where the focus is on the Pro B title. However the Dragons Rhondorf couldn´t have been drawn a more annoying opponent with MTV Herzoege Wolfenbuettel. Granted they had two wins less than Rhondorf and were in sixth place in the regular season while the troops of head coach Thomas Adelt finished in third place, but the guests are a very talented team that carry some BBL license players from BBL team Braunschweig that could be the x-factor in this series. The Basketball Lowen Braunschweig played the night before in Bayreuth and MTV Herzoege Wolfenbuettel had their German BBL license players ready to battle in Rhondorf which upped their depth a tad more giving them that advantage over the Dragons Rhondorf. Not only were many eyes on the Wolfenbuettel double license players, but also the duel of the night between the two guards Kameron Taylor and Demetrius Ward. It is always a delight to see two of the leagues best American point guards go head to head and they are the two players that carry their teams and get them going. The Dragons Rhondorf entered the game with a two game losing streak and had to win as going down 1-0 to Wolfenbuettel wasn´t on the Dragons menu while MTV Herzoege Wolfenbuettel entered the playoffs playing spirited basketball having a three game winning streak and won their fourth game in a row 83-76 taking a 1-0 playoff lead in the best of three series. MTV Herzoege Wolfenbuettel came into the game with 95 BBL games experience with their double license players and got 40 points from them overpowering the Dragons Rhondorf. After the victory the content American and heart and soul of the team Demetrius Ward reflected on the win, but also had an eye on his injured teammate German Tom Alte who went down hard with 7 seconds to go falling on Viktor Frankl-Maus´s foot that most likely ended his season. “The game plan was coming in here and limit our turnovers. We knew that Rhondorf have fast guards with Taylor and Frankl-Maus and like to play transition basketball. We played good transition defense and stayed consistent for the whole game. We stayed poised and just played our brand of basketball. We limited our 1-1 play and played team basketball. We did an overall good job paying attention to the scouting report”, stressed Michigan native Demetrius Ward. The Dragons Rhondorf played their hearts out, but were playing catch up basketball all night long and just couldn´t contend with the various Wolfenbuettel weapons over 40 minutes. After the loss, top Pro B player Kameron Taylor was more than disappointed about coming up short. “We were unable to get stops the whole game. They got too many easy baskets. When we did get stops, we couldn´t execute on offense. We tried to be aggressive, but they got in the lane too much getting easy baskets”, stated Maryland native Kameron Taylor.

Kameron Taylor Can´t Always Play Hero as The Dragons Rhondorf Might Have To Produce New Ones Against MTV Herzoege Wolfenbuettel

This season Dragons Rhondorf guard Kameron Taylor has flashed that winning smile on most occasions simply because the regular season was a smashing success and loses weren´t as prevalent as last season where the team was denied the playoffs. On account of his MVP like season where he in most cases than not must have felt like a man playing against boys as scoring at times felt as easy as it was for Russell Westbrook to register triple doubles last season and nailing two back to back triple doubles against BBC Coburg and Dresden kept his smile in constant rotation as basketball life at the moment is in perfect harmony for him and the Dragons Rhondorf. With the regular season history, the playoffs are approaching rapidly and suddenly the Dragons Rhondorf will have to be extra sharp in every game, if they want to continue their quest of reaching the Pro B final and going for another Pro B championship. The club had a two week break until the playoffs begin this Saturday and of course some more valuable time for Taylor to get his warm and childlike smile a workout. He might have been daydreaming here and there while sitting at the annoying red light at the intersection Menzenberger street and Linzer street or waiting for the annoying long German commercials on television to be over imagining just how competitive the head to head duel will be in the next weeks with American Demetrius Ward. His smile may have been extra supercharged recently when he observed the ridiculous James Harden ankle breaker on Los Angeles Clipper Wesley Johnson as he starred him down for a split second and then shot an in your face three to supply you tube world with unending clicks, but was there anything that may have actually postponed that smile or even turned that smile into a sceptical one? Well if the knowledge that the MTV Herzoege Wolfenbuettel were the Dragons Rhondorf first opponent in the playoffs didn´t then it most likely may have got head coach Thomas Adelt a bit uneasy and hardcore knowledgeable Dragons fans as this opponent is no cake walk. But then again this opponent may actually be a blessing in disguise for the Pro B title contender Dragons Rhondorf. Even if many opposing team´s management think the world of him as this Saturday the representatives of one of the top German pro A teams will be in the Dragon Dome to watch him wheel and deal, Taylor can´t always play hero and in this series the Dragons Rhondorf might have to produce new heroes.

The Fraport Skyliners Juniors Crunch Time Three Point Accuracy Prevails Again Topping BBC Coburg 76-73

When you observe Jordan Burris for the first time, he looks like any other American player in the Pro B standing out a bit from the rest of the majority of German kids with his 201cm athletic build and dark features, but unlike many of his American peers in the league who played at smaller and lesser known NCAA schools or NCAA 2 schools, the California native actually has seen the biggest arena´s in the United States playing against top programs like Washington, Oregon, Arizona State or BYU to just name a few and played his home games in the beautiful state of the art arena Lawlor Events Center that has a capacity of 11,200. So when the American who finished his college career at CS San Bernardino(NCAA2) entered the tiny, but very enticing and pretty BCM gym where the Fraport Skyliners Juniors play their home games, he mostly likely had no idea he was bringing some NBA atmosphere to a place that also had it. Even if it took Burris a few years to reach Europe and still has a chip on his shoulder wanting to continue to climb the basketball ladder, he played against future NBA players in the NCAA and even was part of a commercial with NBA legend Kobe Bryant. He easily could have lured some more fans into the BCM with his Kobe Bryant story had they known about it. “ He’s been my favorite player since I can remember. So to meet him and be able to pick his brain was the experience of a lifetime. At one point he stopped the production of the commercial and gave me a personal lesson on his fade away. That’s a memory I will cherish forever. He’s also a big trash talker man. But I guess in 20 years of NBA basketball he’s heard it all. Yea so when he got there I told him “I’m Jordan I’m the guy that’s going to lock you down.” To that he said “that’s not what my 30,000+ points say.” After that I had nothing to say. But just being a huge fan of his, I admire his work ethic and tried to incorporate that into my game. Be the first one in and last one out as much as possible. A line that sticks with me from Kobe is “rest in the end; not in the middle”, stressed Jordan Burris. But Burris also could of heard some stories from Skyliner employees who can boast about their own NBA atmosphere in the BCM gym as over the years guys like Dirk Nowitzki, Carlos Arroyo, Jon Leuer and Alan Anderson have played there. Burris put his NBA stories and memories of Kobe on hold for 40 minutes as he and BBC Coburg came to battle the Fraport Skyliners Juniors and departed with a disappointing 76-73 loss which had head coach Derrick Taylor shaking his head after the buzzer sounded. The head coach wasn´t happy with the outcome as neither was Jordan Burris who reflected on the BCM gym and the loss. “I was in good company being in the same gym where Dirk Nowitzki had played in before. I have played in even smaller gyms than this in Germany. When I walked in here I noticed it was nice, but as soon as the game starts, I´m totally focused on the game. We fought hard tonight, but I have to give a lot of credit to Frankfurt. They are a great team for their age. They made a lot of tough three pointers. We played good defense in the first half, but weren´t finishing our possessions with rebounds. We rebounded better in the second half, but they also hit more shots which left fewer rebounds. They hit too many open three´s in the second half”, stressed ex Nevada(NCAA) forward Jordan Burris. The Fraport Skyliners Juniors controlled the game and as always were saved by their timely shooting in crunch time. After the big win which set a date with Bochum in the playoffs, German forward Konstantin Schubert reflected on the win. “We got many baskets inside at the start from Trtovac and in the second quarter Gruehn helped us with his good three point shooting, but we were never really able to get away from Coburg. We had some bad phases when they went to zone and we also gave up some easy baskets as well”, added Konstantin Schubert.

Brian Butler Dunks The ScanPlus Baskets Past The Dragons Rhondorf 92-69

Only a few days ago, it was carnival time in the Rhein area of Bonn/Bad Honnef and you had many many people dressed up in funny and in some cases memorable costumes acting crazy and just enjoying life while others in other parts of Germany were carnival free and going about their daily business. If the carnival craze had infected Americans Kameron Taylor and Brandon Watkins was unknown, but seeing a Taylor prancing around in a Trump costume or Watkins donning a OJ Simpson costume would have been enjoyable, but with only a few weeks left in the Pro B regular season, they most likely were already mentally locked in to the big game against the ScanPlus Baskets who are in first place while the Dragons Rhondorf had one victory less and were parked in second place. Watkins wasn´t with the team yet in October, but Taylor was and had bad memories of the 103-72 blow out loss in Elchlingen as they met an offensive powerhouse that averaged 28 points for the course of three quarters. The ScanPlus Baskets shot over 50%, dominated the boards and forced Rhondorf to cough up the ball an annoying 24 times. It was a game to forget for the ex Pro A team Dragons Rhondorf as they couldn´t find a defensive remedy on this day to combat the lethal offensive arsenal from the southern German team. Watkins most likely saw film from that horrible loss and also got some extra information from Taylor as both Americans and their German teammates were seeking revenge and wanted to extend their good home record to 10-1. As always it was a full packed house as the Dragon Dome was electric and burning with basketball passion as it was loud and the type of atmosphere that is rarely seen in the Pro B except if your in Rostock, but the home team Dragons were unable to keep their almost immaculate home record as they got overpowered by the ScanPlus Baskets 92-69. The Dragons Rhondorf did the best they could despite being without three key players, but just couldn´t withstand the potent consistent offense of the ScanPlus Baskets for 40 minutes. “Good defense was key for the win. In the last games we had been shooting too many three´s and we wanted to stabilize our inside game tonight and did. We had good communication and when we play good defense then our offense works. It was obvious that they had a hard time without Viktor Frankl-Maus, but we showed we could dominate in the first game where they were complete. Our ball movement was good as well as our pick and roll. It was fun to play”, stressed ex Ehingen guard Brian Butler. After the loss, a disappointed Brandon Watkins reflected on the 40 minutes, but was still proud how the team played despite the many injuries. “It was a tough game and we were missing key players. But guys that don´t usually play stepped up. These young guys know how to contribute now and it was a good learning experience. They are a good team and hurt us with their pick and roll. Our help side wasn´t good as they kept attacking it. We will have to work on it so other teams don´t do that”, stressed ex West Virginia(NCAA) forward Brandon Watkins.

Hayden Lescault is a 25 year old 196cm guard from Folsam, California playing his third professional season and first with the ScanPlus Baskets Elchingen (Germany-ProB). Last season he played with the Glasgow Rocks (United Kingdom-BBL) playing 35 games averaging 12.9ppg, 4.2rpg, 3.5apg, 1.0spg, FGP: 57.1%, 3PT: 31.4%, FT: 75.3%. As a rookie he played with BG Karlsruhe (Germany-ProB) playing 25 games averaging 13.8ppg, 3.4rpg, 2.6apg, FGP: 55.1%, 3PT: 36.2%, FT: 71.8%. He played at Point Loma (NCAA2) from 2011-2015 and as a senior played 21 games averaging 11.5ppg, 4.1rpg, 3.7apg, 2.1spg, FGP: 52.9%, 3PT: 29.7%, FT: 78.7%. Hayden thanks for talking to German Hoops. Congrats on the huge 104-96 win against Iserlohn. It was the second most points the team has given up this season. Was the defensive effort the main thing one could criticize about the win?

It’s never good to give up 90+ points but it happens sometimes when the game is played at such a fast pace.

Donte Nicholas and Julian Scott were a one man wrecking crew as they combined for 55 points. Nicholas as been one of the top players in the Pro B south with Kameron Taylor. What made it so difficult to control him as a team?

Those two guys are great players and they were working hard. Nicholas plays very physical and it was hard to keep him out of the paint.

You reached the BBL final with the Glasgow Rocks. What was so enticing about returning to Germany? Possibly the competitive ambitions of the ScanPlus Baskets?

The season was pretty successful in Glasgow and I enjoyed playing for the Rocks, but I had to weigh my options in the off season and coming to play for ScanPlus made the most sense. Sitting in first place right now, we have our goal set on winning the title and gaining promotion.

After Taking A Step Back To The Pro B Can Kameron Taylor (Dragons Rhondorf) Take Two Steps Forward To The BBL?

Early in the 2017-2018 Pro B season in late October, Dragons Rhondorf fans were witnessing an entertaining and exciting duel against the Fraport Skyliners Juniors who had been massive under dogs coming into the game as they only dressed 7 players as some of their key BBL double license players like Garai Zeeb were playing at the same time in Munich and weren´t available. Instead of running out the clock and being ready to celebrate an easy 20 plus point win, the Dragons Rhondorf were clinging to life as the game was dead locked at 80-80 with 11,2 seconds to play, but the Dragons team had possession. It was that moment in the game that Kameron Taylor had seen before and that time where he especially comes to life as having the ball in his hands when it counts most is when he flourishes and is in his special element. Back at Seton Hill(NCAA2), the Maryland native had celebrated some huge moments with game winning shots against Gannon and Edinboro, but was still waiting for that first professional game winning buzzer beater and against Frankfurt he would help propel himself another step into Dragons Rhondorf heaven and history. As the ball was inbounded, Taylor got the ball and had control of the court and everyone in the gym knew he would make that last play. Taylor was focused on the basket and this was the moment where he blocked everything out and saw only himself the basket and his man Englishman Jules Akodo. With the seconds winding down quickly he met Akodo at the three point line at the top of the key with six seconds and after a few dribbles lost a bit of the handle and almost lost the ball with three seconds, but gathered himself went briefly to his right and had his man off balance and fired away unleashing a lethal step back jumper that saw nothing but net and brought the whole Dragon Dome into an electric frenzy. It had been the club´s sixth game of the season and third home win in a row which had upped their record to 5-1. The season had been a total turnaround from the disappointing last season where the club had to fight in the playdowns to stay in the league and did, but the whole experience had been nothing for weak nerves. This season has been a total 180 degree turn as the club currently has a 15-5 record in second place in the Pro B south standings. A big reason for the success has been the incredible dominance of American Kameron Taylor who is on course of winning the Pro B 2018 MVP and the team have legitimate chances of winning the title as well. So often the success of the team is based a lot on the how well the player performs and meshes with his teammates and that has been the case with Taylor. But in a way Taylor shouldn´t even have been in the Pro B simply because he is way to good. It was his choice coming to the Pro B after having a solid Pro A season with Ehingen as a rookie. “Sometimes you have to take a step back to take two steps forward”, warned Kameron Taylor. He is on his best way of getting back to a higher league next season. However not only the Pro A will be calling, but perhaps even the easyCredit BBL.

With the Pro B regular season winding down, one can pretty much predict well where the post season journeys of the Fraport Skyliners Juniors and TG s.Oliver Wurzburg teams will take them. Frankfurt has booked a ticket for the playoffs while TG s.Oliver Wurzburg most likely will play in the playdowns to be able to book their ticket for the upcoming Pro B season. One thing that is never as predictable is what lineup the Fraport Skyliners Juniors will go with on account of their BBL license players and injuries having been a huge factor in the success they have had this season. With Isaac Bonga, one never knows will he suit up or not as he has been concentrating more on the easyCredit BBL this season and only played sporadically in the Pro B. Especially on weekends when the BBL team Fraport Skyliners are in action, his chances of playing become less, but this weekend the team was off as they had back to back games within the week. Bonga had played in the last home game victory against the Bayer Giants Leverkusen and had been a vital factor for the success as he took over the game in many phases and finished with a career high 30 points. Fans weren´t disappointed when Bonga arrived in the BCM gym for warm ups and then was present on the court ready for battle again.
