Jermel thanks for talking to German Hoops. Where are you at the moment and how has your summer been?

Thanks again for having me Miles. I’m currently at home in Malton, Ontario the summer has had some up and downs but overall I enjoyed it.

Mid September is approaching as the new basketball season is coming quickly, but you are still in Canada. How tough has it been for you sitting at home and not knowing about your professional basketball future?

Well it comes with the territory some times things will go your way some times they won’t you just have to stay positive and be hopeful that things will fall into place in your favor

Last season you had a very strong season with TV 1862 Langen (Germany-ProB) playing 24 games and averaging 16.5ppg, 7.2rpg, 2.0apg, 1.8spg, FGP: 58.4%, 3PT: 23.3%, FT: 78.1%. You had some interest from pro A teams, but they then went in a different direction. Do you think some teams look very carefully at Pro B players scared to take a risk?

I’m not to sure about that Miles and I’m curious to know how exactly Pro A coaches gauge the talent level in the Pro B and what exactly they are looking for so that I could apply it to my game and in most of my workouts

If you had resigned earlier with TV Langen then you would be preparing for the new season. But instead TV Laangen has retained your ex teammate Martins Woody and brought in experienced American Nick Freer. Are you a bit disappointed now that you didn´t sign earlier with TV Langen?

I wouldn’t say I’m dissapointed I was well aware of the risk and gamble I was taking not resigning earlier but if you want to get what and where you want you have to make those decisions and also live with them

You scored in double figures with TV Langen in 21 of 22 games before the playoffs, but against Oldenburg you scored a combined 11 points only. How long did it take you to digest those 2 playoff games and how did you analyze those last two games in how you would work on your game this past summer? It seems like Oldenburg did a very clever job just of not letting you play your game

It took longer then expected to get over those performances during playoffs. They were a well coached club that did a great job getting us out of what we run and we did a bad job adjusting I watch those games often and felt like I wasn’t aggressive enough I won’t make that mistake again

Looking back at your rookie season in Germany, with what part of your games were you very happy with and with what things have you been working on this past summer to help make your game even better?

I was happy with how well I valued the ball more then anything I believe I was very efficient and I really tried not to waste possessions. I wasn’t so happy with my shooting I felt like it could have been better even though I was playing with a torn ligament I picked it up after Christmas but I’m back to 100% now so I’m ready to prove my ability to make jump shots

How does a typical Jermel Kennedy work out session look like on and off the court during the summer?

My workouts consist of a volume of shots and cardio catch and shoot, stationary, a wide range of things and ball handling around cones and other things and of course weight training mixed with plyometrics

If you could describe yourself in a few sentences as to why you could help any team now how would you describe yourself?

I bring consistent hard work and the will to compete on both ends of the floor. My activity on the court and my ability to run the floor and cause match up problem do to my versatility are assets I bring great leadership qualities as well. I believe any team should be interested in.

What was the coolist ALS Ice Bucket challenge that you saw this summer?

I thought Charlie Sheens ALS challenge was funny and creative he just dumped a pot with 10k over his head and challenged other people to donate that much money and execute the challenge in a similar manner

Where do you see the journey oft he Toronto Raptors headed this season?

The Raptors are going to better this year then they were last year remember I called it they got some great talent coming in and I believe they’ll do well

What was the last DVD movie that you saw?

Wolf of Wallstreet.

Thanks Jermel for the chat.
